The Housing & Dining department of Northern Illinois University created a series of posters for the 2008-2009 academic year in an effort to educate students about the risks of illegal filesharing and the availability of legal alternatives. Most of the posters focus on the "real cost" of settling a lawsuit with copyright owners. The tone ranges from serious to lighthearted--pointing out what a student might give up to pay the average out-of-court settlement with the RIAA, or what they could have purchased for the same amount (400 music CDs, 25,000 packages of ramen noodles).
