ResNet Support Letter
Dear <supervisor>,
I am interested in participating in the ResNet 2010 conference at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington from June 26-30. ResNet is an international organization dedicated to the advancement and research of student technology support, and is the only professional organization in higher education focusing entirely on student technologies and their integration with the academic mission.
With a variety of presentations spread throughout 7 breakout sessions, I will have the opportunity to compare and contrast our programs and policies with those of other institutions. Also, for a small additional cost, I would be able to participate in a PDS (Professional Development Seminar). The combination of the extended PDS session and the traditional program sessions will give me many opportunities to gather new information and ideas that will benefit our institution. At ResNet, I will have the invaluable opportunity to network with colleagues from other institutions who are facing the same issues and challenges as we are. By sharing information, I am confident that I will be able to take our program to the next level.
In addition to the presentation sessions, I will also have the opportunity to attend the Vendor Fair, which provides an opportunity to meet with representatives of different companies that provide products and services that can benefit the institution. Evaluation of these products could lead to decreased costs in addition to increased productivity.
I know that the budget is tight, but ResNet is one of the most cost-effective conferences to attend. If I register before May 7th, I will receive an early bird registration rate of $475, which, beginning with dinner on Saturday night, includes all but one meal throughout my stay. To further keep the conference affordable, on campus lodging is available for the low cost of $50-$60 per night.
Thanks to shuttles from either the Seattle or Vancouver, British Columbia airport, the ability to stay on campus, and the extensive public transportation system in Bellingham, my incidental costs are very minimal; namely dinner Monday night and meals on travel days.
If you would like more information on ResNet 2010, you can visit the conference website at http://resnetsymposium.org/resnet2010.
Thank you for your consideration to invest in my professional development.
