Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Where will the check-in desk be?
A: Please visit this site soon with updated information about the exact location of the check-in desk, our conference headquarters desk, and more!
Q: Will there be a lot of walking at this conference?
A: All of the primary conference venues (keynote/closing location, presentation rooms, meal locations and on-campus housing) are directly adjacent to one another. The Professional Development Seminars will be a short 15 minute walk from the rest of the conference venues.
Q: I heard there was a new plan for the closing remarks and event?
A: We're doing something a little different this year. Our closing remarks will occur on-campus, directly following the Vendor Fair on 6/26. After the closing remarks, we will go to our closing event (a very nice Picnic at Sea World). You will have plenty of time at Sea World to see the shows, interact with the sea animals and watch the fireworks over Mission Bay.
Q: I'm taking a bus/train/taxi/shuttle/spaceship from the airport. Where on campus will the check-in desk be located?
A: While we do not have an exact GPS location for the desk yet, the conference will be at UC San Diego on the Eleanor Roosevelt College campus. Our school is divided into 6 colleges, and this one is the Northwest corner of campus. If you are booking with Cloud 9 for instance, you will want to go to "UCSD Roosevelt College." Also note: there are 3 other major universities in San Diego. We are the University of California, San Diego. Just in case--you never know! More info about the check-in desk will be posted in the coming weeks.
Q: How much will it cost to attend?
A: The registration fee is $460.00 (March 28-May 4). The Registration fee, which does not include housing is $510.00 (May 4-June 1). On campus housing is available for $70/night for a single room (parking fees included). Please contact us for more information about family rates and room availability. Off campus housing is available, and varies in price. Please see the lodging section for more information on UCSD affilliated rates.
Q: Guests??
A: Guests must register via the online registration system and should note who they will be staying with. Guest registration costs $225.00 and includes all meals and the opening and closing events. Guests are not allowed to participate in the presentations. We have also made arrangements for family-style housing. A limited number of family apartments are available. If you are planning on reserving family accommodations, please make sure to indicate this when you register (there will be a box to check for your housing option). Please contact us if you have any more questions.
Q: May guests attend Symposium presentations/events/meals?
A: A certain number of on-campus rooms will be reserved for symposium attendees bringing overnight guests. Guests may not attend meals or certain events unless they register as a guest (see above for details). If you are interested in bringing a guest to the final dinner event only, your guest will not need to register. We will be selling tickets to the closing event soon. This will include the bus ride and the meal as well as admission to the park. We suspect it will be around 55-60 dollars. Guests may also participate in Monday afternoon activities. Please indicate this on the guest registration form. Also, please make sure to bring your check book when you arrive in order to pay for these tickets. Money will only be accepted during your initial check-in to the conference.
Q: I'm planning on staying off-campus, how do I get to the conference?
A: ResNet 2007 will not be providing shuttles from area hotels. If you are planning on staying off-campus, please be prepared to arrange your own transportation to and from the conference. If you are renting a car, you will need to purchase daily parking permits from the conference registration desk. Permits are $6/day--this fee is included in the housing costs for on-campus guests only. A permit must be displayed daily, as tickets will be assessed for any cars missing a daily permit.
Q: Are purchase orders accepted for conference registration fees?
A: ResNet 2007 is unable to accept purchase orders. Please pay via credit card online (available sooon), or send checks to Wade Blomgren

All money must be paid in full ahead of time. Any due balances must be paid during your check-in to the conference--this includes extra fees for activities and guests. Money will not be accepted past this point. Plan ahead--bring your checkbook, credit cards cannot be processed at the conference.
Q: Are discounts available if I am only able to attend a portion of the conference schedule?
A: Discounted registration fees are not available. ResNet 2007 would like to encourage all attendees to participate in all portions of the conference.
Q: Where is the closing ceremony?
A: The closing ceremony will be held at Sea World on Tuesday June 26, and includes a cocktail hour and casual dinner. Following dinner, guests have the opportunity to explore the park. Shuttles will be taking guests back to campus until 10:00 pm when the park closes.
Q: What should I pack?
A: Be ready for June in San Diego! The weather is not as hot as some might expect. The marine layer and an offshore breeze keep the moist air cool. By the afternoon the sun peaks out for a comfortable temperate climate around 72 degrees. Please pack layers! The weather is continually changing, therefore it is wise to have layers handy. Be prepared to walk and bring comfortable walking shoes. Casual dress is appropriate for all of the scheduled events.
Q: How does public transportation function in San Diego?
A: San Diego has a variety of public transportation options available. While San Diego has a trolley system, the most extensive and convenient public transportation in San Diego is the bus. Realistically, public transportation in San Diego, especially on the busses, can be difficult to navigate, but possible. If you are planning to take trips away from campus and the immediate surroundings, we strongly recommend you rent a car.
Q: I plan on renting a car, how does parking work?
A: San Diego is a wide-spread city with different neighborhoods and districts. Renting a car is a good idea if you plan on spending free time and days away from the main campus. Parking will be available in a covered garage adjacent to the conference facilities. Parking passes are included with on-campus housing fees. If you are staying off campus, parking is available for $6/day.
Q: Why is there a limit of 4 attendees per school?
A: This allows more schools to participate in the ResNet Symposium. This limit is lifted after April 21 st.
