THE BASICS

Conference Attire
Whether you're a veteran "resnetter" or a newcomer, you'll be happy to know that ResNet 2007 will follow in the relaxed Southern Californian lifestyle. We recommend you bring lots of layers, as the weather in June can vary from a foggy morning, to a hot afternoon, and a cool breezy evening. Our closing event will be a casual dinner at Sea World, and a time to relax and play in one of San Diego's most well-known attractions.

On-campus Housing
Our apartment-style residences are self-contained units with kitchens, bathrooms, living areas, and four single bedrooms. All linens and towels will be provided. All of the rooms in ERC are wired with 100 Mb/s Ethernet jacks and are covered by 802.11g wireless access points. This wireless coverage extends over the entire ERC complex, including the open spaces and dining facility. Please see the lodging section for more information.

Conference Sessions
Conference Sessions will be held on the North West point of campus. Conference facilities will span the Eleanor Roosevelt College area (housing), Institute of the Americas (sessions) and the School of International Relations and Pacific Studies. Maps will be availabel soon for more information. All of the primary conference venues (keynote/closing location, presentation rooms, meal locations and on-campus housing) are directly adjacent to one another.

PROGRAM INFO

Closing Dinner
We are proud to host this years closing event at San Diego's widely popular venue Sea World. The closing event will be on Tuesday evening at 6:30 PM. Busses will take all attendees at 6:00 and then arrive for a tasty dinner. After dinner, all attendees and guests (see the FAQ for more info on guests) are welcome to roam around Sea World until the park closes at 10:00 PM. Shuttles will leave at 9:00 and 10:00 from Sea World to take attendees back to UCSD.

Professional Development Seminars
This one-day event will be held during the day on Saturday June 23. The seminars will be geared towards those who are new to ResNet at their institutions, or would like to expand their minds. More details are available on the PDS page.

ResNet Jeopardy
Our own Alex Trebek - also known as Andrew Blaner from Barnard College - holds this annual brain testing event. Modeled after the popular game show, handpicked ResNet attendees match wits against each other and the audience to answer questions about the ResNet program and other fun ResNet trivia! Put your thinking caps on NOW! Stay tuned on Sunday night!

Geek Olympics
An outrageously fun and anticipated event, this is a team event that has you trying out skills that you can pass onto your ResNet staff - like Ethernet untangling mayhem, T-shirt design context, box-building relay - and more! Judi Rennie from Tufts is the famous leader of the chaos. You won't want to miss this event. Sunday night, following Jeopardy.

T-Shirt Exchange
Always a popular event, the annual T-Shirt Exchange is a chance for you to bring a shirt from your school and swap it for one from a different school. All of the shirts are collected and organized, and each person who brings a shirt gets to pick a shirt from a different school (of the same size). Great fun and a super way to freshen up your wardrobe - Jacqueline Irwin from Ball State University organizes this. Please visit the t-shirt page for more information about this wildly-exciting event!

Doc. Fair/Vendor Fair
These events coincide on our last day of the conference and are a great event to meet vendors, pick up swag and enter your name into some great draws - and while you are at it, you can pick up goodies and ideas from schools who donate their literatures, CDs, magnets and more to give you ideas for your own marketing materials next year - a great chance to just hang out and chat, too! The vendor fair will showcase companies offering various services within the telecommunications and residential networking and support fields. The fair will take place on Tuesday afternoon during lunch, and a concurrent vendor track will allow participants to find out more information from several of the companies being represented. The vendor fair will take place in the Weaver Center, adjacent to conference facilities.
